Removable (planted) Aida fabric is an auxiliary base surface for "cross" and "half-cross" stitch embroidery techniques on fabric with uneven interweaving structure, on ready-made textile products, for instance, tablecloth, curtains, blouses, and children's clothes. The removable Aida fabric is tacked to the fabric, and after completing the embroidery the threads of the Aida fabric are pulled out.
Stramin canvas is used in carpet weaving. Large cells create a solid base surface for work. Due to the natural color, the base surface is almost invisible under the working threads. It may be used for embroidery with embroidery thread or thin yarn.
