Marina Khromova
Tell us about your creative career.
I started my path in the embroidery in the company " Zolotoe Runo ", in the design studio having the same name, which at that time was headed by Ilyina Alina. Alina became my real teacher. Until then, I had never worked with embroidery. The first work was "The Yellow Rose", which opened my series of "Yellow Flowers". I did not notice that my works somehow qualitatively changed over time; maybe they got a little more complicated in terms of embroidery technique. In my works I usually use such techniques as full cross, half-cross, mélanges and finishing (contours); in some works I use the French knots. Most of all I love to draw animals, but I like other themes as well, it all depends on my mood and on the soul longing.
How did you start your collaboration with PANNA®?
When my relationships with the company "Zolotoe Runo" came to their logical end, I received a very attractive offer from PANNA®. After some negotiations, we had moved to a mutually beneficial cooperation.
What do you have in mind to please the fans of PANNA® kits?
I want to do portraits of dogs of different breeds, I have plans to continue the "Lunar Series" and a series of reproductions based on the paintings of famous artists. There are lots of plans and willingness to work, but it’s hard to find time for everything.
Which of the works for PANNA® do you consider the most successful?
My favorite works made for PANNA® are «White Tiger», «White Owl», «Polar Night» and «Emerald» based on the same-name painting by A. Mukha.
What tips and recommendations can you give to all those who like to embroider?
- Before purchasing a kit carefully examine the picture on the cover (given the fact that printing can distort the colors) and think twice whether you want this particular embroidery.
- Never judge a work before finishing and decorating it.
- Be creative in any job; do not be afraid to redo everything based on your preference.
- Finished works can be toned, in other words you can sew over the already stitched element with lighter or darker thread by half-cross in 1 or 2 threads or by cross in 1 thread. It creates a very interesting effect. This way you can deepen the shadows and highlight the glares.
