Pure silk is rightly considered to be the best material for embroidering with ribbons. Due to the fabric’s composition, silk ribbons are soft and drape beautifully.

Silk Ribbon “GAMMA” SRM “Melange”

These multi-colored ribbons feature smooth lengthwise transition from one color to another. The color transition spans about 45 cm, allowing one to create a unique element of embroidery using a single stretch of ribbon. It gives the work a singularly vibrant quality, highlighting its elegance and sophistication.
The thin ribbons from Categories SR-2, SR-4, SRM-2 and SRМ-4 are more commonly used for embroidery, since they are easier to pull through the weave of the base fabric. The thinner gauge is recommended for conveying fine details: stems, thin twigs, flowers, leaves and other minute elements.
The wider ribbon under SR-7, SR-13 SRM-7 and SRM-13 are used in creating appliquй elements, such as flowers, bows, etc., which are subsequently attached to the piece with discreet stitches. These ribbons work well both for spicing up the interior design and adorning garments.
The wide SR-25 ribbons are recommended for rendering larger elements in floral embroideries. They are perfect for twisting and crafting rosettes and various corsages to be sewn onto clothes.
In scrapbooking, this tape is used to create “shabby trim.”
