Cushion is not only a bedding item. It’s got many advantages. You will have a good nap on a beautifully embroidered cushion. Put it under your elbow and you will think better. Put it under your back, feel an ease and your needlework will go on nicely. Use this idea of an embroidered shaped cushion and do it yourself with pleasure!
You need
- 1. Finished embroidery PANNA «Matryoshka Embroidered Shaped Cushion» PD-1603
- 2. Canvas or fabric (brown)
- 3. Sewing machine
- 4. Threads
- 5. Scissors
- 6. Pins
- 7. Hot fix applicator
- 8. Polyester balls or padding polyester
1. Match the right side of the finished embroidery with the right side of the canvas. Pin the finished embroidery and the canvas along the contour of the embroidery. Put the pins perpendicular to the contour line. Leave the bottom edge (10 cm) open for turning out and stuffing.
2. Cut the front side piece and the back side piece of the cushion along the contour of the embroidery + 3 4 cm allowance.
3. Machine-baste the front side piece and the back side piece of the cushion along the contour of the embroidery capturing the embroidery on 2 3 mm. Secure the beginning and the end of your sewing. Leave the bottom edge open for turning out.
4. Notch the seam allowances with the point of the notch 1.5 cm above the contour of the embroidery. Make triangle notches along the convex parts of the contour of the embroidery and simple notches along the concave parts (the doll’s neck).
5. Don’t make notches along the open bottom edge of the cushion.
6. Fold and press the seam allowances along the two sides to mold the curves on the front side of the finished cushion.
7. Turn the cushion right side out through the open bottom edge. Carefully smooth the seam again on the right side.
8. Stuff the cushion with the polyester balls or the padding polyester and close the hole in the cushion with blind stitches.
9. Iron the finished cushion once again to smooth the seam along the contour.
