Natalia Mlodetskaya
Tell us about your creative career.
As far as I remember myself, I always drew. Even when I was a little girl, I was delighted by three volumes of cartoonist Bidstrup, somehow preferring his pictures to all children's books. I graduated from art school, entered the architecture faculty of the Institute, where I gained excellent skills of academic drawing and painting. Sometimes it seems that I still cannot evaluate the whole scope of knowledge I acquired back then. It was the institute time when I seriously engaged myself into the embroidery; cross surely prevailed, but I tried satin stitch too.
For many years I had been embroidering on the kits, not even thinking about my own paintings in embroidery. In terms of creativity I fully fulfilled myself in advertising (lead designer in an advertising agency), and the soul component was filled by drawing at night after work.
Somehow accidentally, after purchase of the next kit, my husband jokingly asked me why I still bought the kits with someone else's designs which are beautiful, but still not mine. This was a food for thought. Then it was really interesting to experiment, well, I must say that I’m still experimenting. In each of my designs I'm trying to find a new image, a new idea, a new formula, to convey some new positive emotions both to embroiderers, and to people contemplating the picture. In the first place, I’m doing this because it's interesting, and the fact that so many like-minded embroiderers like it is a real happiness!
How did you start your collaboration with PANNA®?
I have my own small company for production of my kits, which is also a mini-advertising agency. Cooperation with PANNA® had a long run, to be more accurate, it all happened unplanned, but very interesting, and I am very glad with it. I always drew a lot, when I have the right mood and the so-called muse I can make several designs for an evening or two. In general, I’d like to say that my ideas and drawings are a lot more than just for my own release. I am glad that now I have the opportunity to draw a lot more!
What do you have in mind to please the fans of PANNA® kits?
As for creativity, there is absolutely no sense to plan anything. When I sit down to draw, sometimes I don’t even have specific thoughts or ideas, the pencil just runs across the paper and something emerges, the brain is used only on the final stage. Sometimes I think that it’s not me who draws, but someone for me (as weirdly it may sound), I only have to catch the right mood, sit down and draw.
Which of the works for PANNA® do you consider the most successful?
I think that many fans of PANNA® embroidery kits would answer this question way better than me. All my works are dear to my heart, they are like children - all different, but each of them has a part of me.
What tips and recommendations can you give to all those who like to embroider?
I don’t like and cannot give advices, especially in terms of creativity, and each piece of embroidery is creativity! Here are my wishes: to have more time for your hobby. Get only the most pleasant emotions with the embroidery, both from the process and the results!
How would you describe PANNA® kits?
I believe that this is the best domestic firm, which became a place to gather so many talented designers, giving them the perfect environment for creativity! The variety of styles and designs, great accessories at an affordable price - this is what distinguishes PANNA® kits!
